Extended Care Programs
Philosophy:
Many of today's families are faced with special
challenges for child care. With two parents often working, St. Francis School recognizes the need for safe and reliable
child care both before and after regular school hours.
The extended day program provides care for children
in grades K-6 both before and after school. This program runs only when St. Francis School is in session.
After School Programs:
The after school program hours are from 2:10 PM
until 5:45 PM. Children are separated into two rooms by age so that activities can be done which are age
appropriate. On early release days, the program runs from dismissal time to 5:45 PM.
Children are provided with outdoor free play,
afternoon snack, quiet homework time, planned craft activities and indoor games.
St. Francis School complies with the Litchfield
School District for the cancellation or delayed openings of school due to inclement weather or other emergencies. In
the event of school cancellations, the program is not held. If severe weather begins during the school day, parents
are expected to pick up their children from the after school program by 4:00 PM.
General Policies:
Children
may arrive as early as 7:00 AM. At 7:30 AM, all children go to the play
ground for the regular arrival supervision.
A child will only be released to a parent or to an
individual who has been authorized in writing to pick up the child. Parents are required to sign out their children
when picking them up. Children will be released into the care of a non-custodial parent unless documents to the
contrary are on file in the principal's office.
Children who require medication while in the
extended day programs will be given the medication provided that there is a written note on file from the parents
and from the prescribing physician giving permission and also indicating the time and dosage to be given. All
medication must be in the original container.
Fee Policy:
The fees for the program are calculated based on 36
payments of $65. There are 36 weeks in the school year. There is no adjustments for shortened weeks since the fees
are charged by the number of school days. Payments are due each Friday, a week in advance of the service. After the
36 payments have been made, no further payments are necessary. For part-time students in the program, fees are due a
week in advance. Payments may also be made monthly by enrollment in the
FACTS plan for electronic funds transfer. All checks should be made out to "St. Francis School".
The weekly rate remains the same whether or not a
child attends each day. Money will not be refunded for cancellations after the weekly payment is made.
There is a daily rate for children registered for
three or fewer days a week. Children on a daily rate must be registered for specific days. Changes on those days may
be made on a space availability basis.
